Ruby

We have a new member of our family- a Boxer puppy named Ruby.

On my birthday, July 21st, we traveled an hour and a half to pick up this precious pooch.

Little did I know exactly what I was getting myself into.

You see, I grew up with cats.  Self-sufficient- leave you alone- cats.

Not that you don't already know, but cats and dogs are nothing alike.

Luckily Todd knows all about dogs.  There are pictures of him about 2 months old, sitting on a blanket with their family black lab, Fred.

It was a whirlwind for me!  I didn't know just how active little puppies are.  They sniff, bite, chew, sniff, pee, poop, sniff more, and did I mention that they bite?  Uh, yeah.  Cute little puppy teeth are sharp little razors.

I was convinced we'd picked a rabid, aggressive puppy.  But Todd reassured me with, "Melanie, she's a puppy- she's going to bite and chew."

So we bought lots of chew toys and treats and puppy pads and a crate and just about everything else our little Ruby would need.

As of today, she's been ours for about a little over a month.  It's crazy how much our lives have changed.  I know it sounds stupid, but seriously!  Feeding, walking, taking  her out to pee/poop, playing with her, and teaching her how to sit/stay/down, etc it's a lot of work.

It was looking grim the first couple days, but things turned around once I took a chill pill and didn't stress about doing everything perfect.

But enough with the words!  Here are some recent pictures of our little lady:

Ruby Petzold
aka: Ruby Scoops, Ruby Sue, Ruby Boot Scoots
(ok, we like nicknames)
Age:  12 weeks

Hello there!

Aren't I a cutie?
I'm also a little goofy :)
Ok, isn't she just the cutest little thing ever?!

She's such a fun and loving puppy.

Hope she makes you smile :)
